Italian Fund FIEE Acquires 100% of Alicante-based Cubierta Solar

Italian Fund for Energy Efficiency (FIEE) has completed the full acquisition of Cubierta Solar. This strategic operation, which strengthens the relationship initiated in the summer of 2023, "aims to significantly enhance Cubierta Solar's leadership in the energy solutions sector for industry, particularly in photovoltaic self-consumption and storage, within the Spanish market," according to the company.

The FIEE fund, with a strong focus on sustainability, thus reinforces its position in the renewable sector in Spain, considered a strategic market due to its growth potential and high availability of renewable natural resources.

This acquisition "provides Cubierta Solar with a solid financial base that will allow the company to expand its offering of self-consumption models and batteries without the need for initial investment from the client (PPA or Pay-as-you-go). The goal is to "expand Cubierta Solar's territorial coverage".

This new phase is accompanied by a renewal in the management team, which was already operating in the company. Sergio López Oña, previously the general manager, assumes the role of CEO, while José Ramón Gaspar maintains his position as financial director. Both professionals bring proven experience in business management and energy infrastructures, and their work will focus on consolidating Cubierta Solar's growth, optimizing operational efficiency, and strengthening its position in the industrial sector. Javier Infante, FIEE's Investment Director in Spain, will continue to chair the Board of Directors.

Cubierta Solar retains its technical and commercial team, as well as its organizational structure. In this way, "continuity in technical excellence and customer proximity, which have been distinctive of its projects, is guaranteed".

Since its foundation, the company has executed more than 320 photovoltaic installations and surpassed 15 MWh in energy storage projects throughout the national territory. This positions it as a leader in self-consumption and storage solutions for the industry.
