A car fire has once again raised alarms at the Aspe Town Hall. Just one month after the vehicle belonging to the father of the town's mayor, Antonio Puerto, was set on fire, the same has now happened to the car of the municipality's Police Councilor.
According to sources close to the case, the incident occurred during the early hours of Tuesday at around 4:30 AM. The vehicle was parked in front of the councilor's residence.
The flames have gutted the interior of the car, which had a broken window, leaving it completely destroyed. In fact, according to statements made by the councilor to the Civil Guard officers, he suspects that the fire was intentional.
At present, the incident is being investigated by the Civil Guard, specifically by the Judicial Police of Novelda, to whom the case has been transferred from Aspe's barracks.
This unit has been reinforced with support from guards who are part of an expert fire investigation team covering the entire Valencian Community, based in Valencia.
The incident under investigation adds to a similar event recorded on July 19th when the car belonging to the mayor's father, Antonio Puerto, was also set on fire. The flames affected several nearby vehicles and properties.
