Local Police in Petrer are investigating a potential case of animal cruelty after discovering a dead horse in the Puça ravine on Wednesday, according to municipal sources. Officers arrived at the scene following a report, where they found the animal's body and began their inquiries.
However, initial investigations proved unsuccessful. The attempt to read the chip to identify the animal's owner was unsuccessful. Therefore, the investigation continues to determine how the horse ended up there under such circumstances.
Meanwhile, as the incident occurred in a natural setting, the Local Police have forwarded the incident details to the Department of Environment to take appropriate measures. The department's technicians have already initiated the necessary operation to remove the animal from the ravine. Additionally, veterinarians from the Department of Environment will take samples from the animal to determine the cause of death and assess any potential infection or public health risk.
Awaiting further developments to clarify the incident's causes, the Petrer Town Council has expressed its condemnation of any form of animal cruelty, hoping to locate the owner and uncover the details of what transpired.
