The Peugeot 9X8, a hybrid Hypercar that has become a statement of intent in the World Endurance Championship, continues to make history at the Le Mans circuit.
Initially remembered for its debut without a rear wing, the current model, adapted to the latest aerodynamic regulations, retains its rebellious spirit without compromising efficiency.
The '9' in its name recalls Peugeot's successful racing models (905 and 908), the 'X' symbolizes all-wheel drive and electric technology, and the '8' aligns it with the brand's current numbering. Interestingly, 9x8=72, the number of the French department of La Sarthe, home to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The heart of the Peugeot 9X8 is a hybrid propulsion system that combines a 2.6-liter V6 biturbo combustion engine (up to 520 kW / 707 HP according to the Balance of Performance) driving the rear wheels, with a front electric motor of up to 200 kW (272 HP) powering the front wheels, providing all-wheel drive and a combined power close to 1,000 HP.

Despite its compact size, the hybrid system features a high-density 900V battery, developed by Saft in collaboration with Peugeot Sport. This battery can deliver high power instantly and recover braking energy quickly, enduring the constant charge and discharge cycles in competition.
The 9X8 also incorporates a Formula 1-inspired front suspension, designed to absorb vertical movements and eliminate roll in corners, enhancing stability and performance at high speeds.
Advanced Telemetry with Artificial Intelligence
To optimize its performance, the Peugeot 9X8 uses advanced telemetry based on Artificial Intelligence. In collaboration with technology consultancy Capgemini, Peugeot Sport engineers rapidly analyze data generated by the car in real-time.

This technology facilitates decision-making during the competition, allowing for more precise energy management during acceleration and regeneration phases, and making adjustments according to the needs of each moment in the race.
The 9X8 aims to continue adding to its accolades, which already include two podiums and eight top 5 finishes in its seasons.
