The Orange Tree Courtyard of the Las Clarisas convent in Elche will be the cultural hub this summer. This venue will host numerous events during May, June, and July, including intimate concerts by candlelight.
"A programme with 25 performances, designed for everyone and for the people of Elche to discover this heritage gem that is Las Clarisas and enjoy it alongside the best cultural offerings," stated the Councillor for Culture, Irene Ruiz.
In this vein, the councillor presented the cultural agenda of this centre, which includes the 'Clásica Clarisas' concert series with piano and guitar recitals from the Alicante Conservatory of Music on Thursdays and Fridays in May at 8 PM.
A total of ten performances will take place in the Orange Tree Courtyard, featuring recitals from the Bach Week. As a novelty, a special guitar concert will be held to present the Elche festival dedicated to this instrument on June 20.
Another notable concert series is 'Mínimos', continuing on Sundays, May 11 and 18 at 12 PM at Las Clarisas. "It's a different way to experience a concert, intimately," explained the councillor, previewing performances by Alicante's Trice and the trio Yo Somos.
The historic Las Clarisas convent will also host concerts by candlelight in May and June at 10 PM. These include pop hits played on the piano, along with tributes to ABBA and Mecano. Six concerts have been scheduled to "enjoy music in a unique space by candlelight."
Comedy also finds its place in the cultural programme of Las Clarisas this summer. The stand-up comedy series will take place during the nights of June and July at 10 PM. The audience will enjoy performances by comedians such as Ismael Galletero, Julio and María Abad from Magma Comedy, Venezuelan Daniela Padrón, and the famous Trino.
All concerts in the 'Clásica Clarisas' and 'Mínimos Concerts' series are free with an invitation that can be obtained at Clarisas one hour before each concert begins.
The 'By Candlelight' concerts are priced at seven euros, and the 'Summer Comedy' concerts at five euros. Tickets for both series can be purchased at the Gran Teatro box office and online through the vivaticket.es ticket sales portal starting next Thursday.
