Controlling speed on roads is one of the most effective strategies to reduce traffic accidents and their consequences. The Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) is well aware of this and continues to implement new measures to ensure road safety. In this context, as part of the plan to install 122 new speed control points to be deployed throughout 2025, the DGT has announced the activation of 17 new speed cameras on various roads across the country.

This information, revealed on the official DGT website, details that the new devices will be distributed across Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, Andalusia, the Canary Islands, and the Community of Madrid.

Where are the new speed cameras located?

The 17 new speed cameras, which became operational last Monday, are divided into 9 fixed cameras and 8 section cameras. Their locations are detailed below:

Castilla y León:

  • Fixed camera: LE-311 (León)

  • Section camera: SA-20 (Salamanca)

Valencian Community:

  • Section camera: N-340 (Castellón)

  • Section camera: N-340 (Castellón)

  • Section camera: V-31 (Valencia)

Andalusia:

  • Fixed camera: A-491 (Cádiz)

  • Fixed camera: A-49 (Seville)

  • Fixed camera: A-8005 (Seville)

Canary Islands:

  • Fixed camera: TF-5 (Tenerife)

  • Fixed camera: TF-66 (Tenerife)

  • Fixed camera: TF-65 (Tenerife)

  • Section camera: TF-655 (Tenerife)

  • Section camera: TF-655 (Tenerife)

Castilla-La Mancha:

  • Fixed camera: CM-101 (Guadalajara)

  • Fixed camera: CM-4010 (Toledo)

Community of Madrid:

  • Section camera: M-521 (Madrid)

  • Section camera: M-521 (Madrid)

These devices add to the more than 2,000 speed cameras already operational in Spain, including fixed, section, and mobile cameras, aiming to control speed in particularly sensitive areas and reduce the number of violations.

When do these new speed cameras start issuing fines?

Following the usual DGT procedure, the first 30 days after their activation will be of an informative nature. This means that during this period, drivers exceeding speed limits in the areas where these cameras are located will receive a warning letter, notifying them that they have been detected driving above the permitted speed.

After this trial month, the cameras will begin issuing fines as normal. From that moment, any driver exceeding the established speed will receive the corresponding financial penalty and, in some cases, points may be deducted from their driving licence.

This deployment is part of the DGT's ongoing effort to improve road safety, especially on conventional and high-occupancy roads, where 70% of fatal accidents occur. With this measure, it is expected that drivers will reduce their speed in monitored sections and, consequently, the number of accidents will decrease.
