A fire in the meter room of a building in Pau II, Alicante, has resulted in two individuals suffering from smoke inhalation - one of them an 80-year-old woman - who had to be transported to Dr. Balmis General Hospital.

The fire was reported around 3 PM on Thursday, September 12th, on Cardenal Francisco Álvarez Avenue. The swift response from the Alicante City Council's Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue Service (Speis), which deployed three units comprising a total of 15 firefighters, was crucial in preventing more severe damage.

The flames only affected the main protection box, and the generated smoke seeped into some apartments through the building's ventilation grilles without spreading through the staircases, according to municipal sources.
