The Alicante Local Police force is bolstered by 16 new officers for the summer season. The City Council strengthens the city's beach security with these additions to prevent thefts and other incidents, ensuring safety.
This Thursday, the new officers of the Local Police took office. Thus, the municipal workforce now reaches 567 personnel.
The Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and the Security Councillor, Julio Calero, have detailed that the new officers will primarily be assigned to reinforce the beach security for this summer.
"Security on our public roads is a plus for Alicante, which increasingly receives more visitors, so it is necessary to continue improving the human and material resources of the force," stated the mayor.
Tourists appreciate the Local Police
Barcala recalled that the Local Police is "one of the most valued services of the City Council." This is also reflected in the evaluations of the cruise passengers during 2024, giving a score of 4.7 out of 5 in more than 4,000 surveys conducted.
Alongside these new officers, the mayor has committed to "continue expanding the Alicante Local Police force as the city requires."
Meanwhile, the Security Councillor has also highlighted the specific information and control campaigns that have been launched since the beginning of the year in areas such as the use of personal mobility vehicles (scooters), pyrotechnic products, speed on city access roads, or compliance with the Street Cleaning and Waste Ordinance.
