The Alicante City Council has approved in the Governing Board the call for a tender to award the works to improve energy efficiency, digitalization, and accessibility of the Alicante Technification Center, Pedro Ferrándiz Pavilion. This project has an execution period of five months, is put out to tender with a base budget of 1,554,743 euros, and is co-financed with funds from the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, through the European Next Generation funds.

The Infrastructure Department, led by Councilor Cristina García, promotes this modernization project for this reference sports center in the Alicante capital, a regular venue for Lucentum basketball games, as well as hosting the training of athletes in other sports disciplines, with the aim of offering the best conditions in terms of lighting with energy efficiency criteria, air conditioning, and digitalization of access and ticket sales processes along with other proposed improvements for the facility.

The modernization of the Pedro Ferrándiz Technification Center will be possible thanks to the collaboration of the Generalitat, as the regional administration assessed -before the management was transferred to the City Council- with the preliminary study the necessary investment for improving accessibility, digitalization, and accessibility of the city's most emblematic sports facility.

Key Actions

Among the improvements intended to be introduced in the Pedro Ferrándiz Pavilion are proposals to improve air conditioning by installing more efficient equipment than those currently installed. These energy efficiency improvements could result in an electricity bill saving of between 37% and 45%.

Additionally, the lighting needs of the sports courts and the rest of the complex will be improved to enhance efficiency and resolve lighting issues that have also affected this reference pavilion in recent years. This ambitious municipal project also includes improvements in safety and accessibility, mainly in accessible routes from access points to currently available stay and use points.
