Iberdrola has now reached 1,000 public charging points for electric vehicles installed in the province of Alicante and has surpassed 8,000 nationwide. In 2024, the company has activated more than 25% of the points installed in Spain, reinforcing its position as the most extensive public charging network in the country, according to the company.

In addition to this already operational infrastructure, nearly 4,000 more points are being added across the country, which are either under construction or awaiting various administrative procedures, and will be available in the coming months.

Of the 1,000 operational points in the province, approximately 25% are fast, super-fast, and ultra-fast charging points, capable of recharging 200km of range between 5 and 40 minutes, allowing any journey to be completed, operated by the Iberdrola | bp pulse alliance, the same sources add.

Strategic Alliance

The high-power charging points have been developed and operated since last year by Iberdrola | bp pulse, a 50:50 strategic alliance between the two companies to lead the deployment of fast and ultra-fast public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Spain and Portugal.

Iberdrola, which continued to launch 10 charging points every working day in Spain last year, "thus demonstrates its commitment to electric mobility, the only mobility option that improves air quality and achieves more sustainable spaces."

Iberdrola's electric mobility strategy is based on installing charging points of different powers to allow users to select the option that best suits their needs at any given time.

Objective: A station every less than 50 kilometres

Thus, its charging points of less than 50 kW are located in places where the driver will stay longer, such as shopping centres or supermarkets; while its goal with fast charging stations is to place one every less than 50 km to enable long-distance travel.

All points installed by Iberdrola use 100% green energy, sourced from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin (GdOS), allowing "to fight against climate change and achieve a transition to a model independent of fossil fuels."

Users can access the company's network through the Iberdrola Public Charging App, "the most valued in the sector," where they can view and geolocate verified information on all chargers, check their operability in real-time, and reserve and pay from their mobile.

Private Charging

Iberdrola's electric mobility development also extends to the private sector in businesses and residential customers, surpassing 50,000 charging points along with its public network.

In the private sector, it offers alternatives for domestic charging, where it stands out for having, it emphasizes, the most competitive tariff in the sector, allowing 1,000 km to be travelled for 5 euros, and for businesses, where it offers turnkey products from design, installation, maintenance, and management of the charging point, the company adds.

The mobility plan, launched by the company in 2016, was a pioneer in its implementation. Today, its strategy includes the installation of more than 100,000 charging points by 2025, among public, residential, business, and parking points.
