Iberdrola has installed a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the Las Atalayas industrial park in Alicante to continue its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility. The infrastructure is equipped with two fast-charging points of 50 kilowatts (kW), made possible by an agreement between Iberdrola, which provided the equipment, installation, and management, and Seur, which provided the parking lot space where the chargers are located.
The General Director of Employment, Business Development, and New Economy of the Alicante City Council, Vicente Seguí, visited the installation accompanied by Francisco Samper, President of EGM Atalayas Business City and Juan Carlos del Río, area manager, as well as Antonio López, General Director of Seur Levante, and Joaquín Longares, Commercial Delegate of Iberdrola in the Valencian Community, who explained and demonstrated the operation of the charging infrastructure.
It is worth noting that users of these facilities recharge their electric car batteries with 100% green energy from renewable generation sources, certified by guarantees of origin (GdOs). The charging points are listed on the Iberdrola Public Charging App, where users can geolocate the charger, check its real-time availability, and reserve and pay via mobile.
Additionally, these points offer the novelty of payment via credit/debit card as they are equipped with payment terminals (POS).
With more than 7,000 public charging points guaranteed to be 100% renewable, Iberdrola's electric mobility network is the most extensive in Spain. In total, including public and private charging points, the company's network reaches 45,000 chargers.
The mobility plan launched by the company in 2016 was pioneering. Today, its strategy includes installing more than 100,000 charging points by 2025 across public areas, residential zones, businesses, and parking lots.
To achieve this, their public infrastructure design is being developed on highways and corridors as well as in cities and small towns with the goal of having at least one fast-charging station every less than 50 km.
The high-power charging points will be developed and operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse, a 50:50 strategic alliance between both companies to lead the deployment of fast and ultra-fast public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Spain and Portugal.
