A 57-year-old hunter died on Monday night in Añover de Tajo (Toledo) after falling from a tree at a height of five meters. The deceased, who resided in San Martín de la Vega (Toledo), had gone with a relative to this town in Toledo to hunt using the stalking method at night.
For this, they had built a special post with wooden planks at the top of the tree. During the stalking, the man fell to the ground and was left unconscious. The relative who accompanied him alerted the 112 emergency service, which mobilized Civil Guard agents, Local Police officers from Añover de Tajo, and a mobile ICU with medical personnel to the estate.
The agents, who were the first to arrive, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the injured man as he was not breathing until medical personnel arrived and could only certify the hunter's death. Currently, according to the order of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha that regulates the hunting periods for the 2024-2025 season, wild boar is the only species that can be hunted by stalking at night.
