Accident during a hunting expedition in the Sierra de Bernia, Altea, where the victim had to be transported to a hospital and remains injured, although his life is not believed to be in danger. The incident occurred around midday on Saturday when a man, aged between 55 and 57, accidentally shot himself in the knee after falling down a slope approximately three metres high, according to the Provincial Firefighters Consortium.
Although the man was unconscious, his fellow hunters alerted emergency services, who proceeded with the rescue and transportation to a medical facility. The Firefighters' helicopter rescued him and transported him to the Finestrat helipad, where a medical helicopter awaited for his urgent transfer to the hospital.
From there, a Basic Life Support (BLS) service took him to the Marina Baixa Hospital. The Health Department reports that the injured person suffered multiple traumas, without mentioning the gunshot wound confirmed by the Provincial Firefighters Consortium.
