The University of Alicante will host a new in-person meeting of the Ilenia project (Promotion of Languages in Artificial Intelligence) on May 8 and 9. The event, organised by the Digital Intelligence Centre (Cenid) of the University of Alicante and coordinated by Manuel Palomar, will feature participation from over 30 researchers from various research centres.
The research centres that form the ILENIA consortium include the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), the Basque Center for Language Technology (HiTZ) at the University of the Basque Country, the Singular Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the Digital Intelligence Centre (CENID) at the University of Alicante.
During the two-day event, the progress of the use cases being developed by each research centre will be discussed, with the aim of presenting them to entities, companies, and institutions.
Collaboration between centres is maintained continuously remotely and periodically, as in this quarterly occasion. These dynamics are crucial for consolidating joint work and ensuring effective coordination among teams specialising in voice, text, machine translation, and data processing.
ILENIA is an initiative funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – NextGeneration EU. Its main objective is to promote the development of a more inclusive and diverse linguistic artificial intelligence that adequately incorporates and represents the richness and plurality of the State's linguistic map.
