In a tragic turn of events, a 30-year-old Moroccan man lost his life in Manilva this Saturday after being stabbed, allegedly by a homeless German national residing in the same town. According to initial investigations, the attack occurred during a scuffle as the victim attempted to defend himself from a robbery, as reported by SUR.
The main suspect was apprehended by local police officers, to whom he reportedly confessed after being intercepted near the crime scene.
The incident took place around half-past nine in the morning when emergency services received the first alerts indicating a man was injured and lying in a ditch on the A-377 road, leading from Sabinillas to Manilva.
Local police officers arrived at the specified location, finding the victim still alive but gravely injured. The young man appeared to have at least one stab wound to the abdomen and had lost a significant amount of blood.
In addition to an ambulance, the 061 emergency services also dispatched a medical helicopter for urgent transport to a hospital. However, the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene, despite the efforts of medical personnel.
According to sources, municipal officers found the alleged perpetrator nearby. The suspect had bloodstains on his left hand and cuts on his fingers. It seems he sought help upon realizing the victim's critical condition, repeatedly exclaiming, 'He's dying, he's dying!'
The man, approximately 40 years old and of German origin, allegedly admitted his involvement in the incident to the authorities without resisting arrest.
Preliminary investigations suggest a confrontation between the two after the victim, known to police for his alleged involvement in several thefts, attempted to steal the homeless man's belongings. However, the investigation, now led by the Civil Guard, is still in its early stages.
The suspect had been living in Manilva for some time, often seen begging for food or money outside supermarkets. He spent his nights in an abandoned house in the Las Higueras urbanization, where local police recently prohibited access due to the risk of collapse.
The arrested individual is currently in the custody of the Civil Guard, who will handle the investigation and his presentation to the court.
