Hercules Officially Signs Bulgarian Striker Slavy: 20 Goals in the Last 50 Matches

Hercules is determined to quickly rectify one of its major errors from the last January transfer window: the lack of goals and reliable strikers to fight for promotion.

In just a few days, the Alicante team has announced the signings of forwards Unai Ropero (Alavés) and Slavy (Villarreal B). With these additions, Torrecilla gains offensive strength for his third season on the Hercules bench.

Ropero arrived this week on loan from Deportivo Alavés, where Sergio Fernández is the sporting director. As for Slavy, the striker born in Huesca but of Bulgarian origin joins on a permanent basis for the next three seasons after parting ways with Éibar.

Borislav Stankov 'Slavy' has scored 20 goals in the last season and a half in the Primera RFEF. He netted 13 goals with Unionistas in Group I during the 2023-24 campaign, while last season he was on loan at Villarreal B, scoring 7 goals in half a season.

Slavy's level was not enough to secure a spot at Éibar in the Second Division, and he played only 32 minutes across five matches from September to December last season.

Hercules still has a lot of work to do in assembling the squad to aim for promotion to the Second Division, as they still need to define two more strikers and a significant part of their defense for the upcoming season.

The chapter on attackers leaves Slavy as the sole member, as Unai Ropero is more of a second-line arrival, a goal-scoring attacking midfielder, although he can also play in that position. Yanis seems likely to stay at Betis Deportivo despite Hercules wanting him after his knee injury and being under 23 years old.

Meanwhile, the hero of the promotion to Primera RFEF, Agustín Coscia, is still waiting for a renewal offer from the Alicante team, although it is unclear whether Peña and company will offer him continuity with the Hercules squad.
