Hercules is set to make at least eight signings this summer to strengthen a squad that aims for promotion next season. All club levels agree that returning to professional football is the sole objective, and efforts are being made to provide coach Rubén Torrecilla with the best resources. The Extremaduran coach has made it clear to sporting director Paco Peña and owner Enrique Ortiz that he wants a large squad, with 21 players and three goalkeepers. This may seem surprising, but it is because the Federation allows an extra spot if you have three goalkeepers, although practically, it makes little sense as Carlos Abad is irreplaceable in goal.
So far, the only confirmed, albeit unofficial, signing is midfielder Ben Hamed, arriving from Amorebieta. The Cameroonian pivot played every match for the Basque team, which was relegated to Segunda RFEF several rounds before the end, and his signing was finalized months ago. In fact, Hercules wanted him in the winter market, but Amorebieta did not let him go as he was a key player in their fight for survival, which ultimately failed.
In terms of renewals, Hercules has already announced Carlos Abad's and hopes to reach an agreement with Javi Moreno, who would become one of the highest-paid players in the squad. However, the Almerian winger is still undecided as he has many offers. Javi Moreno has proven himself this season as a crucial player in Primera RFEF with his five goals and numerous assists, and Hercules is struggling to secure his renewal. Additionally, the club might offer contract extensions to Canarian midfielder José Artiles, a trusted man of Torrecilla, and Argentine forward Agus Coscia, who finished the season as the second top scorer with eight goals.
Regarding departures, several are clear: defenders Joel Arumí, Josema, and Abraham del Moral have already packed their bags, as have pivot Mario García, winger Alvarito, and forward Dani Romera. Lastly, players like central defender Antonio Montoro, pivot Carlos Mangada, and attacking midfielder Antonio Aranda have contracts for the next season, but they come off a lackluster season, and the market might offer more appealing alternatives for Peña and Torrecilla.
