On Tuesday, the Provincial Court of Alicante will hold the first session of the trial against the Hercules board for alleged aggravated asset misappropriation involving the irregular receipt of two million euros from FC Barcelona for the transfer of footballer Abde Ezzalzouli, now at Betis. The transaction took place in the summer of 2021.

Hercules and its Foundation are on trial for allegedly concealing from the Tax Agency, to which they owed 3.7 million euros, the receipt of the clause, which was partially and regularly endorsed by the club with 33 cheques of 60,000 euros and one of 15,772 euros, into a Foundation account that had been inactive for years.

The club's accounts were seized due to its debt with the Tax Agency, leading the prosecution to believe that the entity allegedly manoeuvred illegally to avoid settling the debt.

The Prosecutor's Office, Tax Agency, and private prosecution accuse Hercules of aggravated asset misappropriation, although there is a mitigating factor of damage repair as the club paid 1.5 million euros to the tax authorities to settle the debt once this judicial process began.

Among the defendants are the current president of Hercules, Carlos Parodi, and former president Valentín Botella. The Alicante Prosecutor's Office provisionally requests sentences of up to three years for the Hercules president, which would mean imprisonment, and fines, as well as two and a half years of imprisonment and fines for Valentín Botella and José León, directors of the Foundation, and economic sanctions for the two entities.

Unless both parties reach a last-minute agreement, the trial is scheduled to begin this Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Second Section.

Hercules is once again sadly in the spotlight in the courts, while on the sporting front they are experiencing a sweet moment. Rubén Torrecilla's team was promoted to the Primera RFEF on May 5th and is currently in the promotion spots for the Second Division after defeating Betis B 5-1 last Sunday. Additionally, the club has over 12,000 season ticket holders, and next Saturday, around 3,000 Alicante fans will travel to Murcia for the derby against the pimentonero team, a direct rival for promotion.
