Women's football will remain absent at Hercules for the 2025-26 season. As was the case in the current season, the club has yet to shape and finalize a necessity that was achieved in the 2023-24 campaign through an agreement with Racing Playa San Juan.
Hercules, whose first team competes in the Primera RFEF, plans to establish a women's football section within two seasons, according to Gerson Morales, an advisor to the club, who made the announcement on Monday.
The Hercules official held a press conference alongside youth football coaches to assess the season, explain the academy projects, and outline the club's objectives for the upcoming year.
Morales revealed that Hercules intended to start the season with women's teams but cited training ground issues as a barrier. "We must have a women's section and have been working on it until the end. There was a team that wanted to partner with us and form a semi-merger, but if we did, they would lose their training hours at the facilities," explained the Hercules advisor.
"The goal is to work towards having at least three women's teams next year. We want to have teams, but also places to put them," said Morales, acknowledging that many parents wish to see their daughters playing for Hercules.
Gerson Morales confirmed that the owner, Enrique Ortiz, is working on future projects to provide Hercules with a sports city, thus reducing dependency on municipal facilities, although he admitted to not knowing the details. "I can say, from the meetings I've had with him, that the owner is firmly intent on Hercules having these facilities," concluded the Hercules advisor.
On another note, and regarding the first team, sporting director Paco Peña is still awaiting a positive response from winger Javi Moreno, who hesitates to sign while waiting for a potential opportunity in the Second Division.
Regarding departures, several have been confirmed: defenders Joel Arumí, Josema, and Abraham del Moral have been informed they will not continue, along with midfielder Mario García, winger Alvarito, and forward Dani Romera. Lastly, players like central defender Antonio Montoro, midfielder Carlos Mangada, and attacking midfielder Antonio Aranda have contracts for the next season, but their continuity is far from assured.
