Hércules emerged unscathed this Sunday from the exchange of blows with UD Ibiza in the 4th round match of the Primera RFEF league. The Alicante team showed resilience when things looked bleakest, but they can only be criticized for not finding a way to secure victory when their opponent was down to 10 men in the final stretch, with the score at 1-1.
The point is positive. The team took a step forward in one of the most challenging settings in the category, at Can Misses, against a rival expected to take first place and directly ascend to professional football.
Argentine forward Agustín Coscia was instrumental in the match coming off the bench. He forced the penalty and the expulsion of defender Iago Indias just minutes after Ibiza had taken the lead with an unstoppable header from captain Unai Medina.
The match extended to the 96th minute, with Coscia's goal coming in the 83rd. The team failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage during those 13 minutes. In fact, it was Ibiza who had a set-piece opportunity in the final moments of the game.
Before the match heated up in the last quarter-hour, Hércules displayed competitiveness, knowing how to endure and create chances equally.
After 25 minutes of Ibiza dominance, with commendable saves by Carlos Abad, Torrecilla's team managed to recover, grow after the hydration break, and find very clear chances towards the end of the first half. Aranda and Romera could have tipped the scales before halftime but narrowly missed.
In the second half, the match followed a similar pattern. A strong start from Ibiza followed by a good response from Hércules with clear chances for Colomina and Aranda.
In summary, the draw strengthens Hércules overall as they look to capitalize on this point next Saturday at 9:30 PM at Rico Pérez against Real Murcia, currently leading with 9 points.
