The Civil Guard has seized over 90 kilograms of fish at the Port of Altea, mainly immature rock octopus and hake. In total, the authorities have issued six infringement notices to three fishing vessels, two commercial entities, and one individual for violations related to the capture, sale, and acquisition of these species outside legal standards.
These notices have been sent to the Territorial Directorate of Agriculture in Alicante, which will decide the corresponding penalties, ranging from 601 to 60,000 euros. Additionally, the implicated vessels could face suspension of their fishing activities. These irregularities could constitute serious breaches of the Generalitat's Maritime Fishing and Agriculture Law 5/2017.
Thus, the authorities, as part of the actions carried out within the Annual Comprehensive Control Plan of Fishing Activities (PACIAP) and in collaboration with the Maritime Fishing Inspector of the Generalitat Valenciana, have detected various irregularities in the capture and sale of fresh fish products at the fishing port of Altea (Alicante).

During the operation, agents from the Seprona Patrol of Alicante identified several vessels in this port, as well as at the market, that were trading irregular fish. The inspections revealed that some local boats were selling rock octopus that did not meet the minimum regulatory weight of 1,000 grams, as required by law.
Additionally, investigators found an individual attempting to clandestinely transport a sealed container with over seven kilograms of immature hake, purchased directly from a vessel outside the framework of current regulations.
