The Sant Vicent del Raspeig Hospital celebrates its 60th anniversary, marking its status as a leading centre in the treatment of neurology and dementia, acquired brain injury, fibromyalgia, and palliative care. The head of the Consell, Carlos Mazón, visited the hospital on this commemorative occasion, using the opportunity to announce the implementation of a plan to upgrade the admissions and radiology area of this hospital, which will also enhance the hospital's energy efficiency, scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2028.

The Health Department reports that renovation works and acquisition of clinical materials are already underway, with an investment of 1.5 million euros. These efforts will allow for the refurbishment of rooms, offices, and access points, as well as the acquisition of furniture and technological equipment, such as shockwave devices and neuromuscular stimulators, among others, with half a million euros allocated for this purpose.

Sant Vicent Hospital is one of only four in Spain using pioneering electrostimulation splint technology for the rehabilitation of patients with brain injuries.

Mazón emphasised that Sant Vicent is "one of the four hospitals in Spain using pioneering electrostimulation splint technology for the rehabilitation of patients with brain injuries."

He also highlighted that the centre "exemplifies everything we want for the Valencian healthcare system as a whole," and expressed gratitude to the 338 professionals working there for their dedication, as well as to the management team for their efforts and commitment to achieving an outstanding rating in 2024 in the compliance of management indicators used to evaluate care quality.

14 million for chronic care

During his speech, Carlos Mazón also announced that the Generalitat will allocate 13.9 million euros this year for various upgrades at other Chronic and Long-Term Care Hospitals (Hacles).

Specifically, 8.8 million euros have been budgeted for the Military Hospital of Mislata; 1.9 million for the Magdalena Hospital in Castellón; another 2 million for the Doctor Moliner Hospital; and 200,000 euros for the Doctor Esquerdo centre in Alicante, in addition to the investment in Sant Vicent del Raspeig.
