Health Minister Marciano Gómez announced during his visit to Dénia that the Health Department will begin the necessary processing in 2025 to initiate the construction of the new Dénia III health center. The Generalitat has recently accepted the land transfer from the Dénia City Council, despite the land being offered by the Council eight years ago. "This is the first step to start the necessary procedures for the Dénia health center to become a reality," Gómez stated.
After the meeting, the Health Minister visited the plot located on Miguel Hernández Avenue, where the new Dénia III Health Center will be built, accompanied by the manager of the Dénia health department, Juan Puig, and the Mayor of this municipality, Vicent Grimalt.
Specifically, the center will have an area of 1,600 square meters. Additionally, an investment of 3.5 million euros will be made. This expense, according to the Minister, "will be charged in favor of the Generalitat in the pending settlements of the concessionaire company with the Health Department, as committed by contract."
Thus, next year, the Health Department will begin the bidding process for the construction project and work management, until its subsequent award, which is expected to be between late 2025 and early 2026, so that the works can begin and be completed within 18 to 24 months.
The new center will have seven Family Medicine consultations, seven Nursing consultations, six Pediatrics consultations, and four Pediatric Nursing consultations. It will also have a Radiology area with two digital radiology devices, an Administrative area, a SAMU base, as well as a space for general services.
The functional plan includes a reorganization of resources throughout the basic area to equitably serve the more than 46,000 people assigned to this health zone.
The Health Department is working to increase not only health infrastructures but also the provision of human resources, to meet the healthcare demand in the Dénia health department, as it is an area with a high influx of population due to its tourist nature, which intensifies during the summer months.
In this regard, according to the Minister, "we are expanding not only healthcare resources but have also launched a series of incentive measures in Dénia to increase the number of healthcare professionals and retain existing ones, because professionals are the key to ensuring quality care and meeting the population's needs."
Thus, since the Dénia health department was declared a 'Difficult Coverage Area' last June, 59 physicians have already been hired who have chosen this destination, thanks to the incentive initiatives included in the decree on extraordinary measures to meet healthcare demand in these areas with special characteristics due to the shortage of professionals.
