The Nursing Union Satse has lodged a complaint with the Labour Inspectorate over the 'discrimination' faced by nurses who take on responsible roles in the emergency services of the Community.
The complaint concerns those performing deputy and adjunct roles in the Emergency Service of the Valencian Community (SES) and nurses coordinating emergencies at the Emergency Coordination Centre of C. Valencia (CICU).

The complaint highlights that the Health Department has yet to create the positions of deputy nursing director - equivalent to the nursing directors of hospitals - as stipulated by the relevant regulations. They claim that their duties have not been defined, nor have their salaries been adjusted to reflect the responsibilities of the role, 'as they are being paid as SAMU nurses despite performing coordination and management functions.'
They report that since 2017, the regulations for the Emergency Service of the Valencian Community (SES) have existed 'without the Ministry undertaking the regulation,' an act that 'could be considered fraudulent.' They also lament a comparative grievance, asserting that the duties, recognition, and remuneration of CICU and SAMU doctors have been updated over the years, 'which represents a clear difference in treatment based on gender and professional category.'
According to Satse, the same situation is occurring with nurses coordinating emergencies at the CICU, who are responsible for managing emergencies, patient transfers between healthcare centres, overseeing the stroke code, and coordinating ICU bed demand in hospitals.
