Alicante is set to commence the construction of the new Local Police Headquarters, situated next to the Fire Brigade's main station on Locutor Vicente Hipólito Avenue, at San Juan Beach. This initiative will unite the main municipal security and emergency services in a single complex, enhancing coordination between them.

The Local Government Board has tendered the drafting of the project and the execution of the building's adaptation works for the Local Police Headquarters this Tuesday. Specifically, this is the first phase of the works, which includes the basement and ground floor of the building located on Locutor Vicente Hipólito Avenue. The contract has been awarded to the company Abala Infraestructuras S.L. for 2,802,424 euros, with an execution period of eight months (one for project drafting and seven for the execution of the works).

The Security Councillor, Julio Calero, highlights that "this significant action will ensure a constant police presence in the San Juan Beach area, which has experienced substantial growth in recent years."

Investments in Vehicles

In parallel with this project, the Alicante City Council is finalising the purchase of 12 new patrol and service vehicles for an additional 600,000 euros, mainly supplied by Ford through Móvil S.A. for road use and Grau Maquinaria i Servei Integral S.A. with a vehicle adapted for beaches. Specifically, the renewal of the patrol and service vehicle fleet for the Local Police includes the supply of 12 units, of which six are cars and three are off-road vehicles for patrolling, in addition to two vans for Local Police services and another specifically for beach surveillance.

The adaptation works will complete the already executed building works of the Local Police Headquarters. The building consists of a basement and three floors, covering, in the current contract, the adaptation and commissioning of the basement and ground floor, leaving the remaining necessary adaptation works for a second phase.

The configuration of the building and the already completed structural work allows for the immediate use of the basement and ground floors once executed, whose operation does not impede, require, or obstruct the subsequent adaptation of the first and second floors.
