Hércules has a new 'midfield enforcer'. Cameroonian Ben Hamed arrives in Alicante from Amorebieta, where he scored three goals and provided an assist in 36 official matches last season in the Primera RFEF Group 1.
With a versatile and competitive profile, Ben Hamed will join Torrecilla's squad this pre-season to enhance the midfield with his physical prowess. The Cameroonian, who turns 23 this July, can play in various positions. His tactical presence and skillful play allow him to adapt to different formations, something that greatly appeals to the Extremaduran coach.
The young African has accumulated 62 matches in the Primera RFEF over the past two seasons and has always been a starter for the Basque team when available. Hércules' technical department is confident that the Cameroonian will form a strong partnership with Roger Colomina to achieve the much-desired promotion.
Ben Hamed is the second signing officially announced by the club, although he was the first to be secured, following Unai Ropero, chosen by technical secretary Paco Peña to bolster the attack. The Vitorian, on loan from Alavés after a season with little prominence in Elda, is a young forward with potential and proven performance in lower categories.
Despite a challenging season in the neighbouring town, Ropero arrives with the reputation of having scored 19 goals with Alavés B in the Segunda RFEF. Former Hércules player Urbano Santos, now technical secretary of the Vitorian club and right-hand man to Sergio Fernández, believes that Rico Pérez is an "ideal venue" for the youth player to unleash his full potential.
A challenging group
Hércules has been placed in Group 2, East-South, where they will face teams from Murcia, Andalusia, Aragon, and Catalonia, as well as Alcorcón, Atlético Madrid's reserve team, and Ibiza, thus avoiding one of the league's 'giants', Tenerife.
The Alicante team will face a demanding group for their return to the Hypermotion League, the club's main objective, as confirmed by coach Rubén Torrecilla following his renewal. The official match schedule will be presented on July 1st in San Juan de la Nava (Ávila).
