We have a serious political problem in Spain concerning leadership that is out of sync with a broad majority.

Yes, I admit it, I have borrowed part of the title from Salinger's book 'The Catcher in the Rye', but the story here is different, filled with more pathos, unbridled ambition, and political messianism. The idea for this title came to me after listening to the current President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Same place, same attire, same makeup, and same lines to emphasize how displeased he is, appearing gaunt. The speeches are not the same. Evidently, Thursday had some truth; Monday's speech, his only truth: to endure at any cost and against anyone. The problem we ordinary Spaniards face, politically speaking, is devilish. The numbers do not add up to pass a motion of no confidence. To bring a motion of no confidence against someone with the ability, one must acknowledge his skill, to twist arguments and red lines offers nothing. A political analyst mentioned: how interesting, we would hear his supremacist allies say they only want him to dismantle Spain, which we already know.
The problems we face are numerous. The will of the one who can call early general elections does not exist. It is pure and hard resistance, come what may. The support Sánchezism has is based on dismantling the State. Pedro Sánchez deeply believes in this theory, as he stated: "Progressive government." The idea of progressivism that Pedro Sánchez holds is very much in line with Largo Caballero: "The total transformation of the country cannot be achieved simply by casting ballots" or "We do not believe in democracy as an absolute value, nor do we believe in freedom." This last phrase by Largo Caballero has the same meaning as when Pedro Sánchez said that "the reading of the Constitution and its application may have some nuances." I believe, in this sense, it shows us the path he wants to follow, a path where only his interpretation exists without further boundaries and checks.
Another problem we face is his allies and his own contradictions. The allies range from the extreme left to Basque and Catalan supremacism, in the Catalan case with the political heirs of a corrupt party like Convergència i Unió: the 3% party, the Millet case, etc. In this mix that would drive any other political leader insane, he maneuvers. How does he do it? Well, in his weakness, by dismantling our State, transferring or delegating exclusive State competencies, Immigration and Treasury for now. The numbers, the arithmetic, are what they are, and little can be done. The one leading the country is willing to do whatever it takes to stay in power. Power above all, and that above all makes him a hostage to those, leftists and supremacists, who hate everything related to the word Spain.
I firmly believe that the 'feedback' reaching the President of the Government is not favorable to his interests. With such a number of advisors, surely they would tell him "Hey Pedro, the citizens are not with you, I don't know if you've noticed." Just yesterday, he admitted he would not call general elections because he knew he would lose them. He knows that the citizens are not with him. The citizens are tired of his contradictions and his moralistic sermons against those on the wall when he himself is surrounded and trapped by them, and they are worse. We are in a moment of moral and ethical crisis with this government. When people are welcomed who think it's great to steal if you're left-wing, boast of moral superiority, and are capable of literary criticism without reading a book, and a colleague writes a column supporting this practice. It clearly tells you the moral and ethical level of everything within the universe of Sánchezism.
We have a serious political problem in Spain concerning leadership that is out of sync with a broad majority. We have a problem with coup plotters and corrupt individuals who are at the forefront. We have a problem with characters who, in any other place, would be marginal, yet here they have a seat in any media. I could end this article by saying I'm going to eat, but I won't. We'll leave that to the current President of the Government, the one who takes us for fools.
