The commencement of the reform at CEIP Arbre Blanc in Mutxamel is one step closer. The Department of Education has officially delegated the authority to the Town Council to carry out the construction of the new classroom building and gymnasium at this educational centre as part of the Edificant Plan. The project will involve an investment of 1,700,000 euros, a 72% increase from the initial allocation approved in 2019.

The Urban Planning Councillor, Vicente Gomis, explained that "in addition to the necessary price update, the project incorporates two significant regulatory changes: the mandatory installation of solar panels to improve energy efficiency and adaptation to the new Structural Code." Regarding the construction schedule, Gomis added that "with the suspension lifted, the Safety and Health Plan will be updated, and once ratified by the awarded company, the act of resuming the works will be signed, which is expected to begin before the end of the year."

A Long Journey

This significant step concludes a complex and prolonged administrative process that has faced numerous setbacks. The initial project, approved in 2018, did not include the construction of the gymnasium. It was not until June 2019 that a first delegation was granted to address both infrastructures, with a budget of 972,355.06 euros, insufficient to cover the actual cost of the works.

In December 2021, the contract for the work was awarded to Aitana Actividades de Construcción y Servicios, but the company withdrew from the contract in March 2022, amid the pandemic-induced crisis. The contract was definitively terminated in August of the same year.

Subsequently, in March 2023, the project update began to meet new technical and regulatory requirements, such as the installation of photovoltaic solar panels and the application of the new Structural Code. The revised project was received in May 2024, approved in June, and submitted in August to request a new delegation of authority.

Finally, this May 2025, the Department has approved the updated budget of 1,700,000 euros, which will allow the construction of the classroom building and gymnasium at CEIP Arbre Blanc to proceed.

Commitment to Public Education

The Town Council of Mutxamel highly values this new delegation, which will provide CEIP Arbre Blanc with modern facilities adapted to current educational needs. The commitment to energy efficiency also reinforces the municipal commitment to sustainability.

The Mayor of Mutxamel, Rafael García Berenguer, highlighted that "this project is the result of joint efforts between administrations and the firm commitment of this government team to the constant improvement of our educational centres." He also emphasised that "despite the obstacles faced over the years, today we are closer to realising a historic demand of the Arbre Blanc educational community."

The council will continue working to ensure that the construction can begin as soon as possible, providing students with facilities that meet the educational challenges of the present and future.
