The Cabildo of Gran Canaria has unveiled the key details of the upcoming edition of the Gran Canaria Swim Week catwalk, which will take place from October 2 to 5, 2024, at the Expomeloneras venue in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria).
This edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week will bring together a total of 40 designers and brands, including 32 national ones, 23 of which are from the Canary Islands, and nine international brands, featuring American and European firms. All participants will showcase their spring-summer 2025 collections on the Canary Islands runway. Among the confirmed designers and brands are renowned creators such as Aurelia Gil and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada.
Additionally, ten emerging talents will participate in this edition. Making their debut on the runway are American brands Guess, Alejandra Alonso Rojas, and Cynthia Rowley.
Gran Canaria Swim Week is a unique event in its category at the European level, born from the firm commitment of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria to the fashion industry. With this new edition, the event reinforces its position as an international reference in swimwear fashion and establishes itself as a key date within the European catwalk circuit.
The professionalization of the catwalk is one of the pillars of the strategy implemented by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria to promote the event. It is based on a program of fashion shows featuring prestigious names from both Canarian and national and international design scenes.
According to Minerva Alonso, Councilor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, "This year, from October 2 to 5, our Swimwear Fashion Week, Gran Canaria Swim Week, will take place: a week that represents us, our uniqueness, our customs, our culture, and our landscape. A Swimwear Fashion Week that will once again feature important celebrities such as international 'top' models Stella Maxwell and Valentina Ferrer; and with 40 swimwear brands, more than half of which will be Canarian."
The councilor also highlighted some positive data from last year's edition: over two million views on social media, a 10,255% ROI (which measures the profitability of expenses generated by an advertising campaign), a 6% growth in the number of companies linked to the sector in Gran Canaria from 2015 to 2022, and an 8.16% increase in direct employment. Finally, she thanked the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the presence of all international and national brands that join the work of local creators and the entire team of the insular institution.
