Good weather has allowed Costa Blanca to enjoy a successful May bank holiday. The weather forecasts were accurate, and the sun shone brightly during these days, coinciding with the Santa Faz festival and the Day of the Community of Madrid. Read more.

According to the hotel association of the Comunitat, Hosbec, this favourable weather "has led to very high occupancy". Hosbec's president, Fede Fuster, appreciates the figures, noting that with an average of 91%, the region is reaching "almost historic" levels.

Once again, Benidorm leads hotel occupancy in the Valencian Community with 92.4%. Costa Blanca follows closely with hotels recording 91%, nearing full capacity. Meanwhile, the interior also saw good numbers. Towns like Alcoi, in the midst of their patron saint festivities, reported full occupancy, according to Hosbec.

The hotel association emphasizes that all forecasts have been met, thanks in part to last-minute bookings, which increased final occupancy by four percentage points. Fuster positively evaluates these figures, highlighting the "decisive influence of the favourable weather".

In other competing destinations, the Comunitat's rivals faced rain and bad weather, further boosting visitor flow to Costa Blanca. "This is another successful test of the tourist season," notes the president of the hotel association.

Foreign Tourism and Tourist Spending

The May bank holiday confirms a more than positive high season for the Comunitat, following the closure of a historic low season. On Monday, May 5th, the National Statistics Institute (INE) released data on Tourist Movements at the Border (Frontur) and the Tourist Spending Survey (Egatur) for the last month of the low season, March.

Once again, records were set for the number of international tourists arriving in the region, with 857,060 in May marking the highest foreign tourism record for a March, a 3.9% increase compared to the same month last year.

Regarding tourist spending, according to the tourism department, it rose to an average of 1,300 euros per person in March, 4.3% more than in 2024, reaching a daily expenditure of 134 euros per foreign tourist.

In the first three months of 2025, the Comunitat received a total of 2,127,977 foreign tourists, 5.2% more than in the same period in 2024. As for the spending by foreign tourists visiting the Valencian Community during the first three months of 2025, it reached 2.74 billion euros, an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period last year.

"Surpassing 1.1 billion euros in spending in a single March, the highest figure recorded in our history, is a clear reflection of the attractiveness of our offer, the quality of our tourist services, and the joint effort of the sector," positively evaluates the tourism councillor, Marián Cano, who highlights that the data confirms "a record-breaking achievement in international tourism".
