La Sociedad de Conciertos de Alicante kicks off its 2025 programme. The renowned German tenor Christoph Prégardien opens the calendar of performances with a focus on Schubert's 'Die schöne Müllerin'.
The Teatro Principal de Alicante will serve as the venue for this performance, highlighting Prégardien's exceptional voice alongside his profound musicality and interpretative versatility, accompanied by pianist Michael Gees. The concert is scheduled for Monday, January 13th at 8 PM.
The exceptional German tenor will visit Alicante after performing at prominent venues, such as concerts with his son Julian Prégardien at the Oxford Lieder, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and with the Orchester de Chambre de Paris and Lars Vogt at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Paris.

Christoph Prégardien is renowned for his precise vocal control, clear diction, intelligent musicality, and his great ability to reach the heart of everything he sings. Revered as a Lieder singer, he performs with his long-time accompanist Michael Gees, but also offers recitals with Roger Vignoles, Julius Drake, or Stefan Litwin.
His repertoire includes songs by Mahler with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jonathan Darlington, and arrangements of works by Schubert, Brahms, Reger, Berlioz, and Webern with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies.
Christoph Prégardien frequently performs with renowned orchestras worldwide. He has worked with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, as well as the Boston and San Francisco symphonies.
In his long career, he has sung alongside conductors such as Barenboim, Metzmacher, and Thielemann. His extensive orchestral repertoire includes baroque, classical, and romantic oratorios and passions, as well as works from the 17th to the 20th century. In opera, he has performed roles such as Tamino, Almaviva, Fenton (Falstaff), Don Ottavio, Titus, Ulisse, and Idomeneo, among others.
The singer has recorded much of his repertoire in over 150 albums, which have received awards such as the Orphée d'Or from the Académie du Disque Lyrique, the Edison Award, the Cannes Classical Award, and the Diapason d'Or.
Continuous teaching is part of his life. After many years at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zurich, he gives masterclasses for young singers worldwide and, since 2004, he has been a professor at the Academy of Music in Cologne. From the 2023-2024 academic year, he is an associate professor of the 'Alfredo Kraus' Chair of Singing at the Ramón Areces Foundation of the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
Michael Gees, a composer, pianist, and improviser, temporarily left music at the age of 15 after a meteoric career as a child prodigy. He studied in Salzburg, Vienna, Detmold, and Hanover, dedicating himself to piano and composition. He combines music from "old masters" with the performance of his own works and engages in dialogue with personalities from "classical music." He is passionately dedicated to improvisation, which always forms part of his piano recitals.
Since 2001, he has worked at the Teatro Consol with the forum kunstvereint, which he founded himself. With this project, he realised his main concern: shaping the artistic future.
