Georgina Rodríguez graces the latest edition of Vogue Arabia with a special interview conducted by her partner, Cristiano Ronaldo. The conversation took place before the Spanish influencer made her debut at the Met Gala, and had to be conducted over the phone as they were thousands of miles apart. This did not stop the football star from asking deeply personal questions, such as her feelings about being labelled as 'the girlfriend of'.
A personality we have come to know through the three seasons of her reality show 'Soy Georgina', about which she announced: 'For now, I do not plan to continue.' Confident in herself, she appreciates the opportunity Netflix gave her to show her true self: 'The brands I work with have trusted me for who I am. Although they knew me as your wife, I have managed to carve my own path by also showing myself.'
Her professional independence has been solidified without sacrificing the upbringing of her children. Cristiano himself admires her ability to keep their 'home united' while seeing her 'travelling around the world for work'. In this regard, Georgina is clear: 'Our family comes first. Everything I do professionally revolves around their well-being. All my sessions and work commitments are organised according to our family's availability. Our children always accompany me on all my trips so I can enjoy them at all times,' she highlights. And she adds: 'I am fortunate to be able to choose the projects I want to develop in my career.'
The footballer even asks her what she likes most and least about him. She responds with ease and a touch of playfulness: 'What I like most about you is your heart, how kind you are, how well you take care of our family, and the unconditional love you give us. What I like least...? I've told you in private many times!' Thus, leaving us with the mystery of what the forward's greatest flaw might be.
Together they recall their first meeting in 2016, when Georgina was a shop assistant in a boutique and the spark between them was immediate. 'I felt something inexplicable inside me, as if we had known each other all our lives. I remember that when we held hands for the first time, I felt an inexplicable peace and energy. When people are as in love as we are, they know how strong that connection is. That spark that arose when we met has also grown and matured over time,' she expresses.
Almost a decade has passed since that chance encounter that forever changed the lives of Georgina and Cristiano, and turned the young woman from Jaca's life upside down. Overnight, she became one of the most followed figures by paparazzi, took care of three children—later adding three more, one of whom sadly passed away at birth—and made a name for herself in the fashion world.
Reflecting on what her life was like before all this, she confesses: 'If I tell you the truth, I no longer clearly remember what my day-to-day life was like without being famous...' Having adapted to public exposure, she reflects: 'It is part of our routine and our daily life. We are a very normal family despite everything; we love being together and making plans. Being famous does not stop us, we have simply adapted to this new stage of life.'
