Promise fulfilled. The Department of Education of the Generalitat Valenciana, led by Councillor José Antonio Rovira, has already transferred 3,050,744.87 euros to the Town Hall of El Campello, the full amount for the reform works of the Pla Barraques public school, included in the Edificant Plan, which is fully funded by the regional administration.
This was announced on Tuesday by the Town Hall itself, which highlighted that with the available funds, it can now contract the works, which were deserted in 2022 as companies considered the budget did not reflect market reality. Therefore, a new project increased the investment by 63.44%, amounting to 1,184,151.55 euros above the initial amount for which the contract was tendered, and the Generalitat accepted the increase, according to the same sources.
Both the mayor of the municipality, Juanjo Berenguer, and the Councillor for Public Infrastructure responsible for these projects, Cristian Palomares, appreciate the arrival of the funds to carry out these "absolutely necessary" works and thank "the commitment of the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, to the educational infrastructures of the municipality."
With this transfer, in the coming days, the Contracting Committee of the Town Hall will meet to award the works to the winning company of the tender.
In this case, the actions include the construction of a new gymnasium in an independent building, the construction of new vertical communication cores in pavilions 1 and 2, refurbishment of toilets for students and staff located on each floor in pavilion 1, installation of air conditioning in pavilion 1 and pavilion 4, organisation and adaptation of the children's playground in Pavilion 3, installation of slats and lattices on the south facades of pavilions 1 and 2, construction of a new pergola in Pavilion 4 for solar protection, and reurbanisation to solve accessibility to pavilions 3 and 4.
