The Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Marián Cano, has emphasised the significance of the new Benidorm Cultural Centre for the city and its surroundings, highlighting "the firm commitment of the Valencian government to promote and prioritise its completion."
To this end, she explained that the Consell has taken on "the commitment to unblock the situation and ensure the necessary resources to complete the project." As evidence of this, it recently undertook the drafting of the second phase of the project valued at 932,075 euros.
Cano visited the construction site of the Benidorm Cultural Centre this Friday, promoted by the Society for Digital Transformation Projects, an entity dependent on the Generalitat, according to the regional administration.
These works began several years ago and have faced technical and administrative challenges that have delayed their execution. The minister explained that the halt in construction was due to administrative issues and a lack of coordination among the involved administrations.
"This project has been a challenge, but also an opportunity to demonstrate how, through dialogue and cooperation, we can overcome any obstacle," she stated. Additionally, she thanked all parties involved and valued the effort and collaboration with the Benidorm City Council and other local entities.
According to the minister, this new cultural centre in Benidorm is a key infrastructure for the entire Valencian Community and will become "a benchmark not only for Benidorm but also for the entire province of Alicante, providing a place for meeting, creativity, and cultural innovation."
"It symbolises our commitment to cultural hubs as a driver of development and social cohesion, as well as being a space that will enhance cultural tourism and artistic training in the region," she asserted.
The cultural centre is located on an 11,000 square metre plot at the intersection of Murcia and Europa avenues with Jaén and Ibiza streets.
The building's design includes a versatile structure that will feature an auditorium, exhibition halls, spaces for training activities, and a state-of-the-art library. These facilities will allow for the hosting of all kinds of large-scale events, from concerts and theatrical performances to congresses, seminars, and conferences.
