New wave of deregistrations in the Tourism Register for holiday homes. The Generalitat has removed 7,438 holiday apartments lacking a unique and individual cadastral reference. Since the introduction of the Holiday Homes Law, the regional government has been cracking down on all sector illegalities, estimating that the number of homes to be deregistered could reach 34,000.
Thus, of the 10,061 homes deregistered in this new process in the Valencian Community, over 7,400 are from the province of Alicante. They join the 886 already removed from the register in March due to lack of identification number.
These 7,438 illegal tourist apartments are homes that do not comply with the decree law approved last August, which regulates this type of accommodation. The cleansing process is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
The Ministry of Tourism announces that in the second half of June, the deregistration process for another 7,800 homes in the Valencian Community will begin. The head of the department, Marián Cano, has detailed that the aim is to "strictly apply the law and ensure regulated offerings".
With the imminent third phase, 20,000 deregistrations will be reached before the start of summer, although the meticulous project being carried out by Tourism will affect 34,000 tourist homes in total. The Generalitat is deeply engaged in the process of cleansing and updating the Register's database, which already had over 101,200 homes as of December 2024.
Tourism Register
The Tourism Register of the Valencian Community primarily aims to provide a tool for understanding the tourism sector, enabling the administration to carry out activities of organisation, inspection, control, verification, programming, and planning.
The Directorate General of Tourism has identified the need to update essential data of holiday homes to conduct proper management, as the lack of key information, such as tax identification number, phone, and email of the owners, is hindering electronic notifications and procedure processing.
