The Generalitat has invested 390,000 euros to improve the CV-821 as it passes through Alicante, Mutxamel, and Sant Joan d'Alacant, in a project executed in two phases now reaching its final stretch.
This January, the second phase of the operation began, which involves repairing the outer lane of the road, deformed by the roots of palm trees, as well as resurfacing the lane. To carry this out, the Generalitat will allocate 220,000 euros within the conservation works program, with an estimated execution period of two weeks.
It is worth noting that the Department of Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory initiated the first phase of this operation last June on the inner lane, which involved removing palm trees from the median, as well as their roots. The aim was to eliminate bumps in the pavement, as they were causing road safety issues for vehicles, motorcyclists, and cyclists.
In total, 67 palm trees were removed to be transplanted to other areas of the municipality. Subsequently, damaged curbs were replaced, segments deformed by root action were repaired, and finally, the affected lanes were resurfaced to ensure the road met the appropriate conditions for traffic.
The works lasted for two months and required an investment of approximately 170,000 euros. The CV-821 road crosses the municipal areas of Alicante, San Joan d'Alacant, and Mutxamel. The Average Daily Traffic (ADT) in 2023 for this section ranged between 16,000 and 24,900 vehicles per day.
