The National Police have dismantled a criminal organisation involved in trafficking marijuana and cocaine across Europe. A total of eight individuals, of Spanish and Polish nationality, aged between 30 and 65, have been arrested. This gang used courier companies to send large quantities of marijuana across the continent, primarily to Poland.

The operation was uncovered following the discovery of two large packages that smelled of marijuana. These packages had been delivered by a Polish individual at a courier company's facilities, destined for Poland. Inside both boxes were 12 plastic bags containing marijuana buds, with a total weight close to 14 kilograms.

Following various investigations, authorities discovered that the substance belonged to an organisation dedicated to international drug trafficking using courier services. Initially, three members were identified, one of whom was the leader, responsible for contacting third parties and the rest of the gang, according to sources close to the investigation.

Surveillance operations revealed a property in Elda where the drugs were hidden and where drug transactions took place. Investigators noted a significant movement of vehicles and people within the premises, and after observing a series of suspicious exchanges suggesting a public health offence, officers decided to stop the vehicles as they were leaving the location.

To achieve this, a police operation was set up, allowing the identification of the occupants and inspection of the vehicles' interiors, where various packages containing marijuana and different amounts of cash in small denominations were found. Following the police intervention, all involved were arrested as suspected perpetrators of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group.

Operation

The operation resulted in three home searches, two in Alicante and another in Elda, where various quantities of drugs such as marijuana and cocaine, €17,215 in cash, precision scales, a vacuum sealer, a pellet gun, and 100 rounds of .45 ACP ammunition were seized.

Additionally, remnants of an indoor marijuana plantation equipped with lamps and halogen lights were found in one of the rooms of the property. In total, eight individuals were arrested, and approximately 40,500 grams of marijuana and 57 grams of cocaine were seized.

The detainees, seven men and one woman, have been brought before the Duty Court of Instruction in Elda for alleged drug trafficking and membership in a criminal group.
