La Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal group dedicated to burglary. It is estimated that this gang was responsible for 13 burglaries in homes in Callosa d'en Sarrià, where they stole numerous pieces of jewellery.
In the operation, two men aged 44 and 48, of Algerian nationality, were arrested, accused of belonging to this specialised criminal group, according to a statement from the Civil Guard. They are charged with alleged membership in a criminal group and thirteen counts of burglary. Both have been brought before the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Villajoyosa, which has ordered their release with the imposition of precautionary measures.
Investigations began in mid-2024, when officers from the Civil Guard in Callosa became aware of a burglary in a home. Initial inquiries provided details about the physical description of the perpetrators, allowing the search and identification efforts to commence.

In the initial phase, investigators set up surveillance in the affected areas, identifying several suspects and confirming their involvement in the incidents. Over several months, and after analysing evidence, they managed to link them to 13 property crimes. The criminal group followed a modus operandi whenever they burgled homes: they chose unoccupied residences, previously monitored the area, and entered by climbing.
On December 2nd, the operation was executed with the support of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of Torrevieja and agents from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) in Altea. Three simultaneous searches were conducted in the homes and facilities used by the suspects.
During these searches, two individuals were arrested, and €2,300 in cash, jewellery, watches, tools used for the burglaries, as well as balaclavas, binoculars, and other items related to the crimes were seized. So far, 14 pieces of jewellery recovered in the operation have been identified and returned to their owners. Additionally, the Civil Guard has announced that the operation remains open, with further arrests not ruled out in connection with this matter.
