Congress tourism, also known as MICE, is booming in the province of Alicante. This type of tourism is not seasonal, and visitors tend to spend more in the cities they visit for these experiences.
In this regard, the cities of Alicante and Elche share a gem: IFA-Fira Alacant. The fairground, located midway between both cities, is a vast space hosting over twenty fairs and numerous congresses or seminars annually, attracting more than 300,000 people and around 2,000 companies each year.
Following the recent Firauto event, which broke records for visitors and transactions, with approximately 19,000 deals and an economic impact of 40 million euros, the organisation is already preparing for future events, the next being Expomascotas, the pet fair.
The Fira Alacant team is optimistic about the future and is already working on preparing new events to maximise the potential of facilities that span over 28,000 square metres in just its two pavilions.

The success of Fira Alacant and its development potential depends on adapting the area to the needs of this growing type of tourism. The general director of the fair institution, Alejandro Morant, has insisted that IFA-Fira Alacant "has a magnificent future."
However, Morant asserts that it is "essential" to urbanise the surroundings, improve "public transport" and its connections to the fairground, and create "hotel and restaurant services around."
The passage of Firauto has been "a complete success" and the fair has established itself as "the essential automotive event in the province," expresses Morant, who indicates that around 38,000 people visited the event to find their ideal car in what was the 52nd edition of Firauto, the new and used car fair, and the 20th edition of Sobre 2 ruedas.
The event's outcome is a complete success. More than 1,900 transactions were recorded, resulting in an economic impact exceeding 40 million euros. "It has been confirmed that the automotive sector is essential for citizens," Morant asserted.
The next event will be Expomascota, a weekend full of activities for animal lovers, with the participation of more than 60 exhibitors offering hundreds of items and products for your pet, National and International Canine Exhibition (organised by the Alicante Canine Society), II Alicante Feline Exhibition, VI Adoption Salon, obedience and canine training exhibitions, among others.
And to end the year and start the new one, the anticipated Exponadal, the children's and youth leisure fair, where IFA-Fira Alacant creates "the best plan for this Christmas" inside its two pavilions, with more than 20 attractions and dozens of entertainment activities focused on the little ones.
