The Fundación Mediterráneo continues its concert series throughout March. The latest musical offering focuses on the Renaissance, featuring the lute performance of Pablo Fitzgerald.

The recital dedicated to this period will take place this Tuesday at 7 pm at the Aula de Cultura on Doctor Gadea Avenue. Tickets for Pablo Fitzgerald's concert are available from eight euros at the box office and through the Fundación Mediterráneo's website.

Under the title 'Adieu mes amours', the programme will immerse the audience in the evocative sounds of an instrument that significantly influenced musical development in the 16th century.

The recital programme features some of the most exquisite lute compositions, including works by Albert de Rippe, Adrian Le Roy, and Alonso Mudarra, among others.

From the delicate pavane 'La Romanesque' to Luys de Narváez's fantasies and Pierre Phalèse's court dances, the concert promises to transport the audience to Renaissance salons and palaces, where the lute was the undisputed star of chamber music.

Pablo Fitzgerald, an honours graduate from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, is among the most acclaimed lute performers of his generation.

His career has seen collaborations with renowned historical orchestras and ensembles such as La Cetra Barockorchester, The English Concert, and Freiburger Barockorchester, performing across Europe and America. Fitzgerald is known for his historical accuracy, technical skill, and uniquely expressive sensitivity.

The lute was one of the most popular instruments of the 16th century, boasting a vast repertoire that, thanks to the advent of printed music, spread widely across Europe. In this programme, Fitzgerald explores the musical connections between Spain and France through lute compositions.
