There is no room for self-complacency in Luis de la Fuente's roadmap. Spain returns to the scene after their brilliant triumph in the European Championship, and the coach insists on maintaining his team's competitive attitude as they face the challenge of reclaiming the Nations League, a quest that begins in Belgrade, the venue for their first match against Serbia. "This team is insatiable in competition. We want to keep growing and believe that the best is yet to come. There is no complacency or lack of motivation," warned the coach from La Rioja, motivated but not satisfied by recent success.
"We have the desire to continue being the best. Of course, facing Spain is a motivation for others, but it is also a motivation for us to keep competing. We need to do things even better," insisted the coach of the European champions, who remains unchanged by victory. "I keep doing the same things, but it's true that the support we had on the day of the celebration in the streets of Madrid, seeing people happy with national team jerseys, and especially the reception in my hometown were very emotional," he recalled.
Despite being focused on the game, the coach is not oblivious to two highly topical issues: Vinicius' warning about racist behavior in Spain and the instability within the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) following Pedro Rocha's definitive disqualification after his request for precautionary measures was dismissed.
