Sumarcoop, the Cooperative of Supplies for Marble, celebrated its 50th anniversary this Friday at its headquarters in Novelda, unveiling a new corporate image under the name Novaxis after five decades of operation.
The President of the Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, attended the commemorative event, highlighting that this sector "not only extracts stone but also carves identity, wealth, and future for our province." "Sumarcoop is not just a cooperative; it is an example of how the union of many small voices can form a great discourse, of how marble can also be a symbol of unity, labor justice, and local economy that remains here, in our province, generating wealth and opportunities," emphasized the institutional leader, who was accompanied by the cooperative's president, Ernesto Seller.
Pérez added that over these 50 years, the company has experienced moments of expansion, crisis, technological transformation, and opening to new markets, and "you have always known how to adapt with a fundamental value, confidence in your potential and hard work."
He also stated that the members of the entity have professionalized management, incorporating new generations, opening the door to innovation, and above all, demonstrating that in a competitive world, there is also room for cooperation, "and that is strength."
"Today we are not just celebrating an anniversary; we are celebrating a way of being in the world and of making our province grow and progress in a more humane and resilient way. And that is thanks to all those who made it possible: founders, members, workers, directors, families," he concluded.
During the event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Novelda, Francisco Martínez, as well as other local councillors and the President of the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Baño, the commemorative monument of the 50th anniversary was inaugurated. It is a piece made of cream ivory marble and reinforced with resin, consisting of a sundial. The work's author is gemologist artist Iván Larrea.
Sumarcoop
In late 1975, the Cooperative of Supplies for Marble, Sumarcoop, was founded with twenty initial members. The purpose was to ensure quality, quantity, services, and competitive prices in the marble sector. Since then, Sumarcoop has been a company in constant evolution.
From its facilities in Monteagudo, it manufactures, stores, and distributes products for the entire cycle of the natural stone sector: extraction, manufacturing, and marketing. It has become a benchmark in industrial supply and has diversified its activity towards the production of resins, polyester, putties, and other chemical compounds, demanded not only by the stone sector but also by other industrial sectors.
