Ožbej Silc, the Slovenian pivot, will continue with Horneo EÓN Alicante as they prepare their squad for the upcoming Asobal League season.

The 22-year-old joined the Second National team last season during his Erasmus at the University of Alicante. His skills and quality caught the attention of Fernando Latorre, who promoted him to the first team to alternate training sessions. His progress over the year made him an integral part of the Division de Honor Plata team, allowing him to continue for another season.

Ožbej is an international player for Slovenia and competed in the 2023 Junior Handball World Championship. Before arriving in Alicante, he played for RD Škofja Loka. During the 2024-2025 season, he was part of the University of Alicante handball team, which won the Spanish championship.

Fernando Latorre describes him as a "versatile player who can contribute both offensively and defensively, very determined, and a perfect asset for the team's composition this year." "He arrived quietly, and gradually we saw his quality, which is why we considered it a good option to have him this year," says the Alicante coach.

Meanwhile, the club has announced that Lorenzo Poyato, a 21-year-old Spanish goalkeeper, will not remain with the club for the next season. Poyato started with the Second National team and quickly moved up to the first team last season, proving crucial both on the court and in the locker room.

Initially, he began as just another player in training sessions, eventually earning his debut in the Division de Honor Plata. His significant development during his time at the club made him vital in goal, thanks to his saves throughout the season. Horneo Eón has expressed gratitude for his commitment and the work he has shown in every training session and match, helping achieve the coveted promotion, now part of Alicante's sports history. They also wished him the best of luck in his new chapter.
