La cotorra

After the 'I do', came one of the biggest surprises. This parrot, which perches its beak all over Alicante, crashed a very special wedding last week, that of Juan and Claudia, held last Saturday at the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás. After flying over each table, between courses, the most anticipated moment arrived: the cake.
This dessert featured a very special element. The newlyweds, waiting to cut the first slice, saw themselves reflected on it. Two figures, in their same attire, topped the delicious treat.
The culprits? Juan, the groom's father, and the official bonfire artist, Pedro Espadero. Both have been very good friends since school and during a meal last Christmas, they discussed the idea.
Thus, the desire to immortalise this moment, beyond the wedding photos and video, has been captured in this detail that the couple - now husband and wife - will keep to remember their big day.
Another memory will be added to this, related to how the artist moulded their bodies, faces, and outfits before placing them on the cake. Espadero used a scanner to digitise them and set to work on this commission, unique for one of his great friendships.
