Since Isabella, the daughter of Frederik and Mary of Denmark, turned 18, she has been receiving increased public attention, necessitating enhanced security measures, as explained by a former bodyguard of the Danish king to the German press. "As a member of the royal family and a key representative of democracy, her security is now even more crucial. This also protects her role," he noted. Reaching adulthood has marked a "turning point" for the young woman and her parents, who have decided to boost her security and revise the measures previously in place.
The former royal employee specified that the security detail is organised based on a "daily risk assessment." "If she attends a party, someone will be there with her, someone in the background. It is most likely that a security coordinator will be assigned to support the princess in her daily life," he explained to the German newspaper Bunte.
The second daughter of the Danish royals turned 18 on April 21st and celebrated with a grand party in Copenhagen, which included a theatre performance at the Royal Theatre and a concert attended by around 1,000 young Danes. The festivities were not without criticism: "You cannot demand privacy for the new generation of the royal family and then organise a grand birthday celebration spending hundreds of thousands of kroner," local press reproached.
