Four Minors Arrested for Attempted Machete Murder of Young Man

The town of Fuensalida (Toledo), with a population of 12,500, was once a peaceful municipality but has recently become the scene of significant anti-crime operations. In February, the Civil Guard arrested several 'jihadist influencers' recruiting young people in this town, and now the same force has arrested five individuals, three of whom are minors, for an alleged attempted murder.

The main perpetrator, aged 22, along with four minors aged between 16 and 17, ambushed another group of young people with 'clear homicidal intent,' according to the Civil Guard on Wednesday. The suspects blocked the path of the vehicle driven by the 19-year-old victim. They managed to surround the car while delivering heavy blows to it with blunt objects, even shattering the door windows.

One of the individuals, armed with a large machete, approached the driver's door and, after breaking the window, attacked with several machete strikes. Subsequently, the five fled the scene, with one hiding the machete inside the right leg of his trousers.

The victim exited his vehicle with significant bleeding and headed to the Fuensalida health center, from where he was transferred to the University Hospital of Toledo. At this hospital, he underwent emergency surgery as his life was at risk due to the substantial blood loss. Subsequent investigations by the Civil Guard, supported by the Fuensalida Local Police, led to the identification and arrest of the attackers. One of them, the 22-year-old wielding the machete, resided in Móstoles (Madrid) and has been remanded in custody after appearing before the Torrijos (Toledo) Court of Instruction. Additionally, one of the four minors arrested is his brother. Both he and the other three minors have been handed over to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office in Toledo.
