Another gang and another group sexual assault on the beach of Valencia. Local Police arrested four young men, aged between 18 and 20, accused of groping a girl without her consent near the Akuarela Playa nightclub. The four detainees denied the allegations, claiming the touching was consensual, but the victim disputes this, stating she was groped on the beach against her will.
A friend of the girl facilitated the swift arrest of the alleged attackers by following them to a tram stop. The young man first sought help from two Metrovalencia security guards and later reported the sexual assault when a Local Police patrol arrived at the scene.
According to initial investigations, the four young men, residing in two towns in La Rioja and Navarra, took the young woman to the beach, where they groped her, taking advantage of her intoxicated state. The victim was approached by the group as she left the nightclub.
The arrests took place early Sunday morning. After receiving a report of a group sexual assault, several Local Police patrols urgently arrived at the scene to assist the victim and search for the attackers.
At 7:26 am, the police operation began, coordinated from the 092 control room, involving agents from the Seventh Unit (Maritime Station) and the Security, Support, and Prevention Unit (USAP).
After patrolling the area and searching for suspects based on information provided by the victim and a friend, the Local Police patrols did not locate the gang. However, an incident at the La Cadena tram stop led to the group's identification.
Several friends of the victim followed the attackers, confronting and insulting them while accusing them of sexual touching. Two Metrovalencia security guards intervened immediately upon witnessing the commotion to separate the two groups and alerted a Local Police patrol on duty on Tarongers Avenue.
The officers identified the four young men, listened to both sides of the story—the victim's friends and the attackers—and arrested them after informing them they were accused of sexual assault.
As is often the case in most group rape incidents, the accounts of the detainees and the victim differ significantly. The suspects admitted to being with the young woman on the beach and acknowledged the touching but insisted she had consented. However, the victim stated she was groped against her will.
Local Police officers interviewed the complainant and her friend to gather all necessary information for the investigation. Additionally, they took the girl to a medical center following the established protocol for sexual assault cases.
The four detained young men, residing in Calahorra (La Rioja) and Andosilla (Navarra), were taken to the Central Guard Inspection (ICG) at the Zapadores complex, where the Scientific Police took their fingerprints. The Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) of the National Police of Valencia took over the investigation.
The victim was examined at the Gynecology Service of the University and Polytechnic Hospital La Fe, as she reported digital penetration by one of the attackers.
