Alicante will experience a very special fireworks display at midnight this Saturday, April 12. The signals announcing the show will sound around 11:59 PM in the Bulevar del Pla area, where the master pyrotechnician Pedro Luis Sirvent resided. Thus, one of his dreams will be fulfilled: to launch fireworks in his home.
This is confirmed by Adrián Domínguez, president of the Bulevar del Pla-Garbinet bonfire, one of the organizers of the fireworks display, in conversations with TodoAlicante. "Pedro Luis lived opposite our racó and, when he came to see us, he would often say he would love to launch a mascletà here."
"This fireworks display is for him and his desire and enthusiasm to launch here." With this, the dream of the pyrotechnician will come true this Saturday, with the fireworks display launched by Pirotecnia Hermanos Sirvent - whose son Adrián is the manager of the company - as the grand finale of the 'Primavera Fest'.
This event marks its first edition with the collaboration of four bonfires: Bulevar del Pla-Garbinet, Pla del Bon Repòs-La Goteta, Pla Hospital, and Parque de las Avenidas. The districts have joined forces to create an event to "enjoy what moves us and build community."
When thinking of this idea, Adrián Domínguez shared it with the presidents of the commissions in the neighbourhood, Helena Martínez of Pla Hospital, and Óscar Furquet of Pla del Bon Repòs-La Goteta. While working on the 'Primavera Fest', they also involved Parque de las Avenidas through its president, Alfonso Rosell.
With eight hands - and a few more - working on the project, these four bonfires set to work to give "a twist" to the traditional lunches and 'picaetas'. The aim of this 'Primavera Fest' is to offer the neighbourhood and the bonfire enthusiasts a preview of the main days of the Alicante Bonfires.
The festival will start at 7 PM this Saturday, April 12, in the Bulevar del Pla area and will feature music and DJs, activities, and a food and drink bar with consumption restricted to those under 18.
This leisure idea, in the style of an afternoon-evening at the racó, is mainly aimed at young people, although there is no age limit. With this, they aim to bring the Alicante Bonfires even closer to the neighbourhood people in the countdown to the main days in June and to celebrate a fun day that further opens up the commissions and continues to grow.
The 'Primavera Fest' this Saturday will be the litmus test to establish the event in the neighbourhood, as the idea of these four bonfires - strengthened by this synergy - is to continue its celebration and incorporate new elements in the coming years, always with gunpowder present.
