The 32nd edition of the Spanish Theatre Showcase of Contemporary Authors 'Guillermo Heras', which will be held from November 2 to 10 in Alicante, will be a space for professional exchange, training, and debate through its parallel activities.
In total, four activities will be developed alongside the performances, aiming to promote the exchange of ideas, training, and debate on fundamental issues for contemporary playwriting, both nationally and internationally.
The Professional Workshops will be held on November 7 and 8 at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center. Industry professionals will address topics such as translation and international dissemination grants, playwriting labs in Spain, the situation of Spanish playwriting in Latin America, and the publication of theatrical texts.
Another activity is the International Translation Meeting, which will be held on November 6 at the IAC Juan Gil-Albert. This event, organized in collaboration with Contexto Teatral and Sala Beckett, will bring together international translators from countries such as Poland, France, Germany, Romania, and the United Kingdom. It is an exclusive event for professionals that can only be attended by invitation.
The Showcase will also host the Emerging Authors Residency Meeting from November 2 to 10, aimed at playwrights under 35 selected by the INAEM's Current Playwriting program.
Finally, within the framework of the Showcase, various mediation activities will be developed to strengthen the ties between citizens and contemporary theatre. Among them, the Spectators Club stands out, a space for debate inspired by Roberto Fratini's 'Talks and Playwriting Debates', which will allow attendees to reflect on the shows 'Glup, glup, glup' and 'Las Bingueras de Eurípides' in relaxed sessions after the performances.
Additionally, the activity 'The Choice', linked to the show La Scelta by Roger Bernat, will involve students from IES Virgen del Remedio in a participatory process of selection and debate on stage programming.
