The Ministry of Health, in order to coordinate the volunteer work of healthcare personnel who offer to collaborate in the areas affected by the DANA in the province of Valencia, has created a registration form through the website www.san.gva.es to attend to and coordinate the displays of solidarity from healthcare personnel offering their collaboration through various channels.

The Ministry enables this channel to ensure that voluntary aid is channeled in an orderly manner and organized and coordinated with that of the Valencian Health System professionals already working in those areas. Based on the data in the registration form that professionals must fill out, Ministry personnel will contact volunteers to direct them to places where they can be most useful, thus achieving an organized, coordinated, and optimal action with the professionals and services of the Valencian Health System.

It should be noted that the coordination of healthcare volunteer work by the Ministry of Health is an additional measure to the assistance that health departments have been providing in the affected areas since it has been possible for healthcare personnel to access them.

Contact with the municipalities

Furthermore, the Ministry is contacting the mayors of the affected municipalities with whom it has established a direct communication flow, providing them with a healthcare reference available 24 hours to address and manage any needs that may arise in their municipality, in addition to activating extraordinary healthcare attention points in all of them.

Additionally, Health will contact vulnerable patients, elderly people, pregnant women, or people with chronic illnesses in the affected areas to address any healthcare needs they may have.

In the case of pregnant women, from the Primary Care coordination of each health department, midwives are contacting their patients to provide pertinent instructions or manage possible incidents.

Moreover, the Emergency Health Service (SESCV) is coordinating assistance to dialysis and Sintrón patients in the affected areas.

Recommendations to the population

Furthermore, the General Directorate of Public Health has sent to the municipalities, through the FVMP and the Provincial Councils of Valencia and Castellón, a series of recommendations to consider after a flood. Among them, it highlights that children, pregnant women, and people with respiratory problems, such as asthma, or with weakened immune systems should not participate in cleaning tasks, as well as considerations to keep in mind during the cleaning process and follow the municipalities' recommendations regarding water supply and consumption.

Additionally, the document emphasizes the recommendation not to ingest any food that may have been in direct contact with floodwater, except for cans and waterproof containers, which should be dried for at least 1 hour before opening or storing them. It also indicates the need to always follow the storage instructions on the label.

Furthermore, the General Directorate of Pharmacy requests citizens to refrain from donating medications, as the supply of medications must follow the channels established by the Ministry of Health to ensure their quality and traceability to patients.
